Ground beef, I prefer to use ground chuck
Hamburger buns, I like to use these keto burger buns, but non keto peeps can use a regular kaiser roll.
Cheese slices, American cheese or pepper jack melts best.
Onion
Butter, using real butter is important as that is where the flavor is coming from.
Umami seasoning (or salt and black pepper)
🔪 Instructions
- Shape ground beef into 4 large burger patties. Place in the refrigerator and chill while the onions are cooking.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the raw onions and cook, stirring often, for 5 minutes, until onions are translucent.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.
- Place the burger patties in the skillet over medium-high heat and cook for 3 minutes on each side, placing ½ slice of cheese on top of each burger a short while before meat reaches desired level of doneness.
- Transfer burgers from skillet to a plate and keep warm.
- Place burger buns cut side down in the skillet and grill until golden brown. Serve burgers in toasted buns topped with onions.
