❤️ Why you'll love it
- This delicious teriyaki chicken recipe is a healthier version of takeout teriyaki chicken and is keto friendly with only 8 net carbs per serving!
- It takes just 2 basic ingredients to make this delicious dinner!
- Air fryer cooking method is the best way to make flavorful chicken recipe and cooking time is only 15 minutes.
🥘 Ingredients
Boneless skinless chicken thighs: this dark meat portion of the chicken has the best flavor but boneless skinless chicken breasts can be used as well. These will be cut into bite size pieces or strips to allow the marinade to give the most flavor possible in each bite.
Teriyaki sauce: to make this keto friendly I used a sugar free sauce. This can be made with regular teriyaki sauce if you are not eating low carb or keto and you can make your own teriyaki sauce if desired.
Black sesame seeds: these are optional but I do like the nutty flavor and color contrast they add to the recipe. White sesame seeds can also be used.
🔪 Instructions
- Place the raw chicken pieces in a large bowl . Add marinade, salt (if using), and black pepper (if using).
- Refrigerate chicken 30 minutes in the teriyaki marinade.
- Place chicken and marinade into a pie pan in a single layer that fits into the air fryer basket (or tray) and place in the basket.
- Air fry at 350 for 15 minutes. After 7 minutes, use tongs to toss chicken. Air fry 7 minutes longer, until chicken is fully cooked. Garnish with sesame seeds (if using).

📖 Variations
- For a punch of heat add some crushed red peppers.
- Boost the sesame flavor by spritizing the pie dish with sesame oil before adding the marinated chicken pieces.
💭 Tips
- For best results, marinade at least 30 minutes and up to 3 hours before cooking to allow the sauce to seep into the chicken and seal in the flavor and juices.
