❤️ Why you'll love it
Easy and convenient: short prep time and short cook time make these an easy recipe to make for a crowd.
Fan favorite appetizer: the cheesy chicken filling has great buffalo flavor and make the best appetizer for your next game day party.
Great use of leftover chicken: this recipe is a great way to use any leftover chicken in the fridge.
🥘 Ingredients
Crescent roll dough: you will need 2 cans of dough. I prefer Pillsbury's buttery crescent rolls, and be sure to buy the crescent roll dough with the perforated edges and not the sheet.
Cream cheese: should be softened before using to make mixing easier and smoother.
Hot sauce: you can use your favorite hot sauce or buffalo wing sauce.
Cooked chicken: use leftover rotisserie chicken or canned chicken
Fresh cilantro: adds a fresh flavor to the chicken filling.
🔪 Instructions
- Heat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, mix cream cheese, chicken, buffalo sauce, and cilantro until creamy and fully incorporated.
- Roll out crescent roll dough and separate crescent rolls into triangles along the perforations.
- Spread chicken mixture evenly over crescent dough triangles.
- Starting at the wide end of the crescent roll, roll dough up tight and curve the ends slightly creating a half-moon shape.
- Place crescent dough rolls on an ungreased large cookie sheet.
- Bake 12 minutes, until golden brown.
- Cool for 5 minutes before serving.
🥄 Equipment
Baking sheet: use a non stick sheet or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Mixing bowl: use a bowl large enough to combine the chicken filling.
Wooden spoon: a wooden spoon works best when mixing by hand.
Spreader: a spreader has an angled flat bottom that makes it easy to spread the filling.
Parchment paper (optional): if you do not have a non stick baking sheet, then use parchment paper to prevent sticking.
🥫Storage
Refrigerate: store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 4 days.
Freeze: leftovers can be stored in an airtight freezer safe container up to 3 months.
Reheat: to reheat thawed or refrigerated buffalo chicken crescent rolls, place in a 300 degree oven for 10-15 minutes until warmed through.
📖 Variations
- Mix in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the buffalo chicken mixture
- Substitute barbecue sauce for the buffalo sauce.
- Sprinkle chicken filling with blue cheese crumbles
