❤️ Why you'll love it
Easy air fryer recipe: these yummy pinwheels are ready in just 20 minutes!
Simple ingredients: it takes just 7 common ingredients to make these cheese roll ups.
Great for lunch: this will be your favorite recipe for a hot lunch sandwich.
🥘 Ingredients
Pizza dough: use a canned pizza dough like Pillsbury.
Deli ham: use your favorite deli ham. I prefer a cooked ham over a flavored ham
Swiss cheese: buy the thicker cheese slices (not the deli thin)
Salted butter: for flavor (no added salt will be needed)
Italian seasoning: added to the butter for flavor
Garlic powder: added to the butter for flavor
Fresh parsley: optional garnish
🔪 Instructions
- Roll the dough out onto a hard surface lightly dusted with flour to form a 13 x 9 rectangle.
- Top dough with ham slices, fully covering the dough.
- Top ham with cheese slices, cutting cheese if needed to fit.
- Roll the dough up from the bottom long side enclosing the ham and cheese. Keep the roll tight and the ham and cheese inside. Pinch the ends close.
- Using a sharp serrated knife cut the roll into 8 equal pieces. For thinner pinwheels, cut them into 10 or 12 pieces.
- Place the cut pinwheels into a 9” pie pan and cut side up. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, melt butter on high for 20 - 30 seconds in a microwave-safe measuring cup. Add garlic powder and Italian seasoning, whisking to combine. Once melted, stir to mix.
- Using a silicone pastry brush, coat the the tops of the pinwheels with butter.
- Place pan in the air fryer basket and cook at 350°f for 10 minutes or until the crust is fully cooked and golden brown. Remove from air fryer and let cool.
- Garnish with parsley (if using) and serve.

📖 Variations
- Puff pastry or crescent dough can be substituted for the pizza dough.
- Use half onion powder and half garlic powder
- Spread the pizza dough with a thin layer of dijon mustard before assembling the meat and cheese layers.
- Substitute sliced deli roast beef or your favorite deli meat in place of the ham slices
- Use provolone or cheddar cheese slices in place of the swiss cheese
- Stir a little bit of worcestershire sauce into the butter mixture and sprinkle the tops of the pinwheels with poppy seeds
💭 Tips
- For best results, do not over melt the butter, doing so can cause separation of the milk and fat solids. The butter should be just melted enough so it can be stirred and will have the appearance of a cloudy liquid.
- Place a microwave food cover or a loose piece of plastic wrap over top of the butter when melting to prevent grease spatters.
