📖 Variations
Triple Chocolate Treat: For an extra addition of chocolate, substitute ½ of the chocolate chips for white chocolate chips..
Nutty Crunch: Add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts into the dough for added crunch
Peppermint Bark: If you love creamy peppermint bark, use that to top the cookies instead of the crushed peppermint candies.
💭 Tips
Crush the peppermint: place candies in a ziploc bag and using a rolling pin or meat mallet, crush candies until in small pieces.
Chill the Dough: Refrigerating the dough for at least 30 minutes helps the cookies maintain their shape while baking.
Watch the Baking Time: Keep a close eye on the cookies while they’re in the oven; they should be slightly firm around the edges but still soft in the center.
Cooling is Key: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. They are fragile and need to cool and set before removing from the baking sheet.
