Measuring cups

🥫Storage
Store leftover alfredo sauce in an airtight container in the fridge up to 4 days or in the freezer up to 3 months.
📖 Variations
- Chicken broth can be used in place of wine, but remember this will affect the flavor of the sauce.
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder can be substituted for the fresh minced garlic.
- For a thicker sauce, use the entire 8 ounces of cream cheese.
💭 Tips
- The secret ingredient for a creamy white sauce is to simmer it over very low heat, allowing the sauce to bubble slowly. As it does so, the sauce will reduce in volume and thicken.
- For best results, be sure the cream cheese is very soft before adding to the garlic wine sauce. This will ensure no lumps.
- If the sauce becomes too thick, thin it out some with a little more half and half.

🏫 The last word
Classic alfredo sauce generally does not need a thickening agent as it relies on the heavy whipping cream to do so. I left out the heavy whipping cream and relied on a combination of half and half and cream cheese.
Cream cheese works as a thickening agent in this cream sauce eliminating the need for a thickener such as cornstarch or flour.
