Russet potatoes, medium potatoes work best, most air fryers will fit 4-6 potatoes.
Olive oil, to rub on the outside of the potatoes
Salt and black pepper, to season the potato skin
🔪 Instructions
- Wash the potatoes and remove any blemishes. Dry with a paper towel.
- Place potatoes on a plate and drizzle with the oil. Rub the oil all over the outside of the potato skin.
- Season with salt and pepper, then use a kitchen knife to place a 2-3 slits into the potato.
- Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, being sure to leave space between the potatoes to allow the air to circulate all around.
- Bake potatoes at 400 degrees F for 30 minutes, or until a sharp knife edge easily pieces through the potato. Use tongs to easily remove the baked potato from the air fryer basket.

- Substitute sweet potatoes for russet potatoes.
💭 Tips
- Be sure to use an oil that has a high smoke point. Avocado oil, grapeseed oil, olive oil, and canola oil are all oils that would work.
- Try to be consistent with the size of potato to ensure even cooking. Different sized potatoes will require different cooking times.
- Russets is the best type of potato to bake. The have a thicker skin and the flesh of the potato is starchier and fluffier.
