📖 Variations
- Use a combination of ground beef and ground pork in place of the veal. Or, use any mixture of meat you prefer.
- Tomato sauce can be used in place of the sugar free ketchup.
- Raw onion can be used in place of green onions. Just be sure to dice them finely.
- Add minced red or green bell peppers to the meat mixture.
💭 Tips
- To make mini heart loaves, divide meatloaf mixture into 4 or 6 equal parts. Follow directions in shaping into mini hearts or loaves.
- Using the microwave to cook the bacon in a heart shape is the best way to get results you want. On a microwave safe plate, place bacon strips in a heart shape. Cover with a paper towel and microwave on high up to two minutes, until crispy. Allow the bacon to cool completely before removing from plate so it will retain the heart shape.
