Bacon: I used a thick cut slice of bacon but you can use your favorite kind of bacon. Just remember that different cuts of bacon will require different cook times.
Asparagus spears: for best results, look for fresh stalks that are firm and medium sized. Super thin stalks will over cook and thicker stalks (finger sized) will require a longer cooking time.
Everything bagel seasoning: I opted to top mine with this seasoning, but you can use whatever toppings you like.
🔪 Instructions
- Tightly wrap bacon strips around asparagus spears. Use one strip for 6 spears.
- Place bundles of asparagus in the air fryer basket or tray in a single layer with the end piece of bacon down leaving enough space between bundles to allow hot air to flow around the bundles.
- Sprinkle top of bacon with everything bagel seasoning and place in air fryer. Cook for 15 minutes, or until asparagus is cooked through and bacon is crispy.
- Remove asparagus bundles from the air fryer and place on a paper towel lined plate to absorb excess bacon grease.
🥄 Equipment
Air fryer: You will be able to make approximately 5 bundles of bacon in a basket air fryer. If making these for a larger dinner party, I recommend a larger air fryer with trays or use the oven method (instructions below).
Toothpicks (optional): use a wooden toothpick if needed to secure the bacon
🥫Storage
Refrigerate: this recipe is best eaten fresh but if there are leftovers, store in an airtight container in the fridge no longer than 2 days.
Reheat: to reheat, place asparagus bundles in the air fryer on reheat setting (350 degrees) for 5 minutes, or until warmed through and bacon has crisped back up.
How to use leftovers: rather than reheating, try chopping the asparagus with the bacon pieces and add to an omelette for breakfast the next morning!
📖 Variations
- Use turkey bacon for healthier alternative.
- Substitute topping with brown sugar, a sprinkle of black pepper, and/or parmesan cheese the last 1-½ minutes of cook time for a sweet and salty combination of flavors.
- Sprinkle the top with garlic powder and onion powder instead of everything bagel seasoning.
💭 Tips
To trim asparagus stalks: wash and snap the woody ends (see image) off by holding the asparagus spear in both hands and bending it. The spear will naturally snap at the top of the woody part of the spear and right before the tender part. Toss the woody ends of the asparagus in the trash or compost.
Even bacon crisping: Turn asparagus bundles over halfway through cooking time to ensure even crisping of the bacon.
Meal prep: bundles can be prepped a day ahead or the morning of and stored in the refrigerator in an air-tight container until ready to cook .
♨️ Oven Method
If you don't own an air fryer, these bundles can be made and baked in the oven. Place bundles on a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray and bake at 400 degrees F for 30 minutes, until asparagus is tender and bacon is crisp.

what do you set air fryer temp on? i did 400 and way overcooked.
Shelby Law Ruttan
My air fryer automatically sets at 400 degrees. You didn't indicate if it was the asparagus or the bacon that over cooked. The thickness of the asparagus and bacon both will have an effect on how quickly the food cooks. I recommend reading the tips in the post regarding size and thickness of the food and as always, watch the food as it cooks as all air fryers/ovens are different.
