Caramel Syrup: Use a thick caramel syrup, not the liquid one.
Chocolate Syrup: Same goes here, buy the actual syrup, not flavored liquid sweetener.
Coffee: use a good strong brewed coffee or use an instant coffee (such as this instant espresso)
Heavy cream or whipped cream: You can make your own homemade whipped topping with heavy cream, or you can buy whipped cream in a pressurized can.
Whole Milk: I highly recommend whole milk for the best flavor. However, feel free to use 2% or fat free milk if desired.
🔪 Instructions
- Brew coffee as desired.
- Add a caramel drizzle to the inside of the coffee mug and add a little more to your mug to sweeten if desired.
- Pour ½ cup hot brewed coffee into each coffee mug.
- Heat milk over low heat in a small saucepan until hot.
- Whisk hot milk until frothy. Pour ¼ cup milk into each mug.
- Top with whipped cream and drizzle with chocolate sauce and caramel syrup. Top with a sprinkle of sea salt, if using.
🥄 Equipment
Milk frother: This will make the hot milk nice and foamy, perfect for topping the Salted Caramel Mocha!
Fleur de Sel: a gourmet sea salt. This is one of the ingredients that makes this recipe what it is. I don't recommend skipping it.
Espresso Machine: This is what I own, however, if you don't have an espresso machine, then you can use a french press or make a very strong coffee in the regular coffee maker.
📖 Variations
- Make a sugar free keto version by substituting sugar-free syrup and almond milk for the whole milk.
- Make a homemade caramel sauce and chocolate sauce to use in place of store-bought syrups.
- Whisk 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree into the hot coffee for a Caramel Pumpkin Spice Latte.
- Skip the chocolate syrup and dust the top of the latte with cocoa powder.
💭 Tips
- To make frothed milk, heat ½ cup milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until hot. Use a small whisk to or milk frother to to create a milk foam.
- If possible use freshly roasted beans for the best results. Grind your own coffee beans at home using a coffee grinder.
